San Diego Comic-Con 2026

For the 2026 convention, we partnered with Scopely to document the Star Trek Fleet Command activation. Our responsibilities included filming the installation process, covering three days of guest interactions, conducting attendee interviews, and delivering rapid-turnaround edits that were published while Comic-Con was still in progress.

Over the course of the activation, approximately 2,000 guests stepped into an immersive Star Trek experience built around a series of interactive attractions and museum exhibitions of props, models and costumes. Rather than observing from the sidelines, attendees became active participants through a variety of hands-on experiences designed to entertain, surprise, and encourage social engagement.

Guests explored a virtual reality training simulator, tested their luck with a free-to-play claw game, and participated in a unique trading card experience that combined photography with AI-powered enhancements to place them directly into the Star Trek universe. The activation also formed part of a much larger Comic-Con campaign. Star Trek-themed hotel key cards were distributed throughout participating partner hotels across San Diego, extending the experience beyond the convention center and reinforcing the campaign throughout the city.

One of the defining aspects of this project was the pace of delivery. Rather than waiting until the convention concluded, edited content was produced and delivered throughout the event, allowing the communications team to publish fresh material while fan engagement remained at its highest. This workflow required close coordination between the production and post-production teams to ensure footage could move quickly from camera to final delivery without sacrificing quality.

Projects like the Star Trek Fleet Command activation demonstrate how modern event coverage has evolved beyond documenting attendance or showcasing a booth. Effective coverage captures the atmosphere of the experience, the enthusiasm of the audience, and the strategic thinking behind the activation itself. Those moments become valuable assets that continue supporting a campaign long after the convention doors have closed.
